To ensure that your relocation to Freising and the start of your doctorate goes as smoothly as possible, the Welcome Office of the TUM Graduate School put together a Checklist for International Doctoral CandidatesNational doctoral candidates can also find helpful tips here.

Before entering Germany / moving to Freising, you should clarify the supervison of your doctorate and contractual agreements at TUM as well as your funding. Please let your educational qualification checked in advance. Please prepare all documents for the later mandatory examination of your educational qualification before your departure (certified copies, translations).
You may also need to apply for a visa, look for a flat, find out about the insurance you need and possibly find childcare.You can find information about this and more at the TUM Graduate School Welcome Office.

After your arrival in Freising, you must first register your address and as a non-EU/EEA citizen you have to apply for a residence permit . When you arrive at TUM, please apply for entering the doctoral list.
