Doctoral representatives

All doctoral candidate at Graduate Center Weihenstephan (GZW) elected two doctoral representatives. They are members of the Graduate Council at TUM and represented the members of GZW. Additionally they have the right to hospitality in the Faculty council of the TUM School of Life Sciences.

You are very happy with your supervision of your doctoral thesis and you think that your supervisor does an extraordinary good job?
Then nominate your supervisor for the Supervisory Award 2019 and win 5000€ for all PhD-Candidates of your supervisor!

Supervisory Award 2018

This year, the Supervisory Award was held for the first time at the TUM. This prize, which honours particularly good supervision of doctoral students, is awarded by the TUM Graduate Council, the convent of doctoral students at the TUM. It is endowed with a prize money of EUR 5,000.00 for the TUM-wide winner.

At the GZW, 27 supervisors were nominated by their doctoral students; more than at any other TUM Graduate Center. From the nominees, the top 3 supervisors of the Graduate Center were elected in a preselection. These are:

Dr. Mario Jekle (Brewing and Beverage Technology)

Prof. Michael Pfaffl (Animal Physiology and Immunology)

Prof. Donna Ankerst (Biostatistics)

During the GZW Summer Party on Friday, the 13th of July 2018, they received a certificate for their achievements. In addition, they were honoured with a prize money of 250€ each for their working group.

The TUM's best supervisor is Prof. Bernhard Wolfrum, LS Neuroelectronics, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology who was elected by the Graduate Council on the 29th of May 2018.
